The five elements in Feng Shui and the matching colors
By itself, a color is neither good nor bad. It can have a reinforcing or weakening influence on a particular element in the Feng Shui doctrine. We have assigned the right colors to each of the five elements - fire, water, wood, earth and metal.
Element fire elements in Feng Shui
The colors red, pink, orange, pink, lavender and violet are assigned to the element fire and thus to the southern direction (fame and recognition). Red is a pronounced Yang color with strong energy and is therefore very well suited for actively used rooms such as living rooms and bathrooms. Red brings luck and rejects evil forces. Orange is also a yang color that creates a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere in dark areas. It is stimulating and therefore not suitable for the interior in the bedroom. There would be better lavender and tender pink fit. Violet and pink are also close to the element fire. Even a few accessories in these colors inspire the passion, conviviality and youthful radiance of the furniture.
Element of water
Element water elements in Feng Shui
The colors black, blue and purple belong to the element water and therefore correspond to the northern direction (career and life flow). Black and blue are considered passive Yin colors. Too much black in the apartment spreads a rather gloomy mood, so you should rather only set accents in this color. Blue calms and creates a harmonious atmosphere. Purple is supposed to bring good luck and is often combined in its dark shades with gold and silver.
Element wood elements in Feng Shui
The colors brown, green, light blue and turquoise belong to the element wood and thus into the cardinal directions east (family and health) and southeast (wealth and finances). Brown is one of the Yin colors and symbolizes reliability. Individual brown decorations or a soft beige make for a good night's sleep in the bedroom. Green is also a Yin color that promotes balance, harmony and peace, but also a desire to travel and jealousy. Therefore, it is not recommended to paint all walls of a room in green. One would prefer light blue, because it calms down. Combined with turquoise, which also belongs to the yin colors, it is wonderful for the bathroom.
Yellow, ocher and apricot are assigned to the element earth and thus to the cardinal points southwest (relations and partnership), northeast (education and knowledge) and the center (tai chi). Since yellow stimulates the mental energy, and is an active yang color, it is ideal for the work and living room. Ocher has a calming and centering effect, but can quickly spread a boring and depressing mood. For the bedroom, a pale apricot is very good, because it exudes warmth and coziness. In the living room it looks warm and inviting in its stronger nuances.
Element metal elements in Feng Shui
White and gray are associated with the element metal and belong to the cardinal directions west (children and creativity) and northwest (helpful people). White is assigned to the Yang principle. It leaves the idea free to develop properly. But white can also be an obstacle to taking clear views. Gray is best for the office because it has a formal character.
