The bedroom is the space in which we spend most of our lives. Therefore, it should serve above all as a place of rest and relaxation and allow a restful sleep. With Feng Shui, you can optimally design a relaxation room that ensures a healthy and restful night's sleep. Here are some basic principles for this!
No doubt the most important piece of furniture in the bedroom is the bed. According to Feng Shui rules, it should be equipped with as few metal parts and best of all also with no spring mattress because of their strong magnetic coupling.
The head of the bed should be on the sheltered wall to provide security. If that is not possible, a high bed headboard will help. Furthermore, the bed should preferably not be directly in the flow of energy between the door and window, because otherwise an energetic draft is created. If this can not be prevented, the window should be closed at night with an opaque curtain. During the day, sunlight should enter the room, because that brings the vital energy Chi into the room. Nevertheless, the bed should not be directly illuminated by the sun, because this can cause problems falling asleep. The bed should be at least one and a half meters away from the window because it pulls out the chi. If it is too close, the person lying there is also "pulled out to the window", which creates nervousness.
Heavy shelves, picture frames or lights above the bed headboard can disturb the restful sleep and should therefore be avoided. It is similar with ceiling beams, because they can be overwhelming or even threatening. Unless otherwise possible, the beams should be provided with a canopy or the like. Sharp edges leading to the bed should also be softened by gently flowing sheets or quilts.
In the Feng Shui doctrine the cardinal directions play an important role. The positioning of the bed is no different, because a good sleep orientation should be found. Thus, all people belonging to the Eastern group should always sleep with their heads north, east, south or southeast. For all West group people, the ideal orientation of the head is northeast, northwest, west or southwest.
The calculation of the group affiliation is very simple. The last two numbers of your own year of birth are added. Women then add 5 to it. If the result is two digits, both numbers are added together again. For men, the formula is: 10 minus the addition value of the year of birth. If the result for both sexes is 9,1,3 or 4, then one belongs to the eastern group. The West Group is characterized by the result 2,6,7 or 8. After that, the bed can be aligned accordingly.
