Saying Goodbye to Summer..[insert sad face]

16 August 2013

Summer is about to wave goodbye....what the heck is going on? When I was a kid and off from school for the summer, I remember having boring days. Do you? I mean like constantly whining, "I'm borrrrrredd," and my parents [of course] loving that. I never understood why my parents felt like summer flew by. But now, as an adult, I get it.

2.5-3 months is nothing in the great scheme of things. As adults, I find that we are constantly bombarded with things to do between work, family, friends, hobbies, blogging, church and often second jobs! I guess that is the message. We need to stop. Breathe. And be mindful of just how fast each day is going!

With this in mind, I wanted to revisit my summer bucket list because if you've been around these parts long enough, you'll find that I have a thing for lists [bucket lists especially]. I started this bucket list at the beginning of the summer and feel pretty good about where I stand, although I have a lot of things to do before September 22nd.

  • Go to the zoo (before membership runs out)07-30-1
  • See Fireworks
  • Lay out under the stars on a blanket
  • Rent a boat for a day on the lake
  • make homemade ice cream
  • find seashells at the beach
  • Train for a 5k in the fall
  • Watch a movie in the park
  • Picnic on the beach
  • Go to Cheekwood to see the Tulips
  • Buy one new skirt to show off my slimming legs
  • Fly a kite
  • Rollerblade three times
  • Ride my bike three times
  • Eliminate 25% of my clothes on Ebay
  • Spot 5 new roadside attractions

  • I like that most of the remaining items are active-focused. And it just so happens that Nashville is feeling some pretty cool weather right now. Score for August!!! I guess it is just dependent upon me carving out the time.

What are you hoping to experience before summer kicks the bucket [so to speak]? Any last minute getaways or exciting adventures planned? You know, there is always Labor Day weekend!

Now for the fun part. Every month bloggers from Tennessee link up across the state and today is THAT DAY! So if you are a #TNBlogger, insert your link and join the fun!

    1. I thought you were about to call summer quits before I was ready! ;) jk. My list is looking really pathetic right now, it doesn't help that we randomly decided to move which has cut out a lot of nights when I'd planned to do things :P Good thing we have a month to finish

    2. You have plenty of time to finish off your summer bucket list!! I'm actually getting to go on one last summer vacation! It was so last minute, but it makes me happy to know I can enjoy summer one last time, especially since I have already decorated for fall...
